About Taylor

Taylor Garcia is a classically trained dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist with 10+ years of experience performing, choreographing, and teaching across Alabama and New York City. She holds a B.A. in Dance from the University of Alabama, where her choreography earned back-to-back Peer Choice Choreography Awards and the Dance Alabama! Award and where she led productions end to end across casting, staging, lighting, and sound. In 2018, she was selected as one of fourteen choreographers for New York's Young Choreographer's Festival, staging a modern and hip-hop fusion work set to experimental electronic music at Manhattan's Symphony Space, and in 2020 her piece "Berserk!" was presented at both the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival and the Alabama Dance Festival. As lead choreographer for Encore Performance Company, she built competition repertory for one of Alabama's top-scoring teams. Today, as a dance instructor with the Imogen Roche Foundation, she designs and teaches modern, hip-hop, ballet, and creative movement for K–5 students across New York City public schools, building inclusive, high-energy classrooms for learners of every background and ability.
